Listing With Us
Listing a horse with Hanley Horse Sales, will give you access to buyers across North America. Not only do we promote the horses on our web site, we also advertise in high-circulation publications and advertising sites. In addition, we take advantage of word-of-mouth contacts and referrals to network with buyers in Canada and the United States.
If we list your horse, we will take a 10% commission of the selling price. This is assuming he is sold through our contacts, web site, or advertising. If however, you are able to sell your horse on your own, we will not take a commission. This allows you to freely market your horse locally and prevents you from feeling 'locked in' by a contract. We feel this is fair to everyone.
To list your horse, please email or call us with his name and complete description, including breed, age, height, show record, and suitability. We will also require several quality photos of your horse. This can be emailed or sent by snail mail. If you email the picture, please save it as a Jpeg file when you scan it. If you mail pictures, we will scan them in and then return them to you.
Since many of our clients purchase horses from viewing videos (without traveling to see them), it is very important to have a quality video that will show your horse to the best advantage. Total footage time should not exceed 15 minutes (10 minutes is even better). Please include some conformation footage, as well as walking and trotting towards and away from the camera. If your horse is a nice mover, please be sure to include some free-lunging to show that off. If you horse has jumping experience, please include a small course of fences including a few flying changes. If you have show footage, that's even better. If you don't have a video that includes this entire wish list, please just send us what you have for now. You can always follow-up with a better video at a later date. Listing a horse is a no-risk situation. We ask for a small startup fee of $25.00/horse and 10% commission only if your horse is sold.
